Looking forward!

We are looking forward to Eric's wedding on Sunday, and our visit with the Peterson's at the Cincinnati zoo that week! Not so looking forward to the doctors visits/procedure, but you win some, you lose some!

Micah and I had a great time putzing (is that a word?) around town on Tuesday. It was nice to see so many people we don't normally get to go see.

If you'd pray for us as we await the insurance letter about our appeal. I know worrying does nothing, but it's hard not too.

And, right now we're headed out to the park to enjoy the lovely day with Micah's (2nd) cousin Abram! Yay!

Phew, I'm never anywhere long enough with a computer to get anything up! Here's a pic of Micah's first outing in the swing in the front yard. He actually did really well with it... He definitely has room for improvement. He's doing really well overall...

We're going to my cousin's wedding June 20th in Anderson, then to Cincy the next day... to the zoo! He's got an appt the 22nd, and his procedures the 23rd, going home the 24th.

At this point...

I think no news is good news. We were able to go a whopping 5 weeks without seeing a doctor, which was quite a record for us. We went for his 9 month check-up, and all things considered, he's doing pretty well. He's now 28" long (45%), and 17# 6oz. His weight gain isn't quite adequate, so they are increasing his calories per ounce to 27. (Normal formula is 20). This is uncharted territory, even for us, and for some reason it's really frustrating me. He's eating virtually nothing by mouth (imagine feeding (er, fighting with) a kid and getting only about a 1/2 tsp in.. frustrating!) It's a battle we have to fight looking at the long term, knowing that if there's any hope of him eating normally, we have to start now. The nice thing with the calorie increase is that we don't have to press so hard to increase how much he's taking. We are up to 4 oz. at a time, and continuous feedings for 10 hours at night. It's easy to get frustrated, but when you see his goofy little grin, it's hard to complain. He's an awesome kid.

Rollin', rollin' rollin!

Micah's skill of the week is rollin! I can't keep up with him! I walked out of the room for just a minute, and he'd rolled multiple times in one direction, and reached into a basket and pulled out a picture! He was just staring at it, like "What? I'm just trying to make sure you're not holding out on me!"

He loves to just "chill" (as in the first picture). If he can kick his feet up on something, he will!

And also, why is it that kids want what they're not supposed to have? I can surround Micah with toys, but nothing is more exciting than his feeding tube. He'll hold it up to his face and stare at it for hours if I would let him! Kids will be kids!

I'm glad that I'm finally somewhat back in the loop. Micah and I are going to church pretty regularly.

Would you pray that Micah isn't getting sick? I'm starting to wonder... And of course, he always pulls stunts like that over the weekend!

Insurance makes me want to throw up.

If anyone has any experience on appealing insurance claims, please let me know.
Please pray that the insurance company sees that Micah needs to be treated in Cincinnati, not Riley's. I'm not sure if it's necessarily true that Riley's wouldn't be the best treatment, but we are so happy in Cincinnati... And really, how often can you say that!

Micah is doing really well. He's starting to sit up on his own for short periods of time.. (okay, like 5-10 seconds, but that counts!) He had an especially good time eating sweet potatoes. Good, as in he had a great time playing in his food, but good also because he ate a few bites more than normal. I really needed that today.

We got to hear a great couple that are missionaries to Tajikistan. They work in church planting, humanitarian work, and working with kids with disabilities. That was so encouraging!

Note from Grandma

Micah's procedure went well. He was a little trooper. They are on their way home now. They are in Greenfield, which is halfway, and reports are that he is having a great trip home.
